Knicker Revelation!

lachy · 20/06/2020 09:38

I'm a woman of a certain age, ample of bottom and round of belly, and I have been struggling in the knicker department of late.

I ordered some Sloggi knickers off the Internet and now I am in knicker heaven.

My friends mum always referred to big knickers as harvest festivals because all was safely gathered in. I know what she means now.

Sexy they are not, but they are so bloody comfy!

Agree, Sloggis are great.

NorthernGravy · 20/06/2020 10:00

Which sloggis? I keep looking at them but never choosing

lachy · 20/06/2020 12:09

I've bought the Tai style.

They aren't cheap, but they are great quality Grin

(and I haven't been hoiking them up all morning either)

There must be something weird about my anatomy because so many people adore Sloggis but I've tried several different styles over the years and they were all uncomfortable. They really dig into the crease between leg and groin.

DesperateNan · 20/06/2020 12:13

I’ve been a convert for about 20 years. Basic midi for me. I’ve just ordered a 4 pack from QVC as they are on offer. Not cheap but good fit. Not as well made as they used to be though. I have to replace them every year as the seams start to come away at the sides and they get odd little holes round the gusset. And I’ve lost weight so it’s not like they’re too tight. But still the best I’ve found. Sloggi fans unite.

I love big drawers. They are so comfy and I always wear them now. For summer I love the long leg Sloggi pants, they get rid of any chub rub when wearing dresses, they also have the advantage of disappointing any dodgy fucker who might try to peep up my skirt on the escalator.

lachy · 20/06/2020 12:17

They remind me of Marks and Spencers knickers from about 30 years ago. They were indestructible.

Anyone who looked up my skirt at the moment would horrified!

I am a similar shape to you but I like the high rise knickers. The front goes under my belly and the back is high enough not to slip down as I'm walking - especially in jeans or jeggings. It also means that they are not too tight so they don't dig in between my legs and groin.

MulticolourMophead · 20/06/2020 14:33

I prefer Sainsbury's full briefs. But I buy them in 2 sizes smaller than my dress size, as they are very stretchy.

KatyN · 20/06/2020 14:38

I don’t want to tip you over the edge, but have you tried high waisted jeans? I don’t mean up to your arm pits, but I wear Levi’s high waisted jeans and they are ammmaaazziinnnngggg.

Muffin top?? Nah just tuck it in!

I like the sound of those. I might have to investigate those Wink

BlackAmericanNoSugar I had exactly the same when I tried Sloggis. I am large of thigh so maybe that made a difference.

Alonelonelyloner · 20/06/2020 18:35

Seriously so now I have to get both sloggis and Levi's.

I have a big overhang where my sections scars are and usually my knickers fall under it and are uncomfortable and look terrible. Will these Tai ones go over it (I'm a size 10 so it's not enormous as such)?

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 20/06/2020 20:22

BrandNewShinyThings I'm not sure that's the reason as I'm apple shaped so have a big waist and small hips and thighs (relatively speaking). I think that perhaps my waist is too high, so they are pulling upwards and digging into the crease. I doesn't happen with other underwear, but then other underwear isn't as firm as Sloggi.

MrsGrindah · 20/06/2020 20:25

I never understand all these knicker problems. Just buy a size that fits in the shape you like. I never have tugging and falling down problems and I’ve been every size between 8 and 20 in my life

I wish it was that easy! It's not like you can try them on very easily (although maybe you can and I've just not thought about it)

But now that I've found my holy grail knickers, I'm sorted. Grin

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 21/06/2020 21:57

Lucky you MrsGrindah, I'm glad you've never experienced the misery of the knickers that fit when you first put them on, then gradually slide down when you are not in a position to find a private place to hitch them back up, until it's just your jeans holding up a fabric ring around your hips. Grin

Which ones are these long leg ones? Are they the shorts? I desperately want knickers that my bum doesn't try to eat.
Kleptronic · 21/06/2020 22:20

I'm a size 12 apple shape and Sloggis bite me fiercely round the inside tops of my legs, proper sore it is.

mrsswayze · 22/06/2020 16:35

I've just ordered some from amazon they were on offer. Not sure what style they were but I think they are full briefs can't wait to try them when they arrive

lachy · 22/06/2020 19:26

I've convinced my mum to order some, she was complaining about her knicker issues yesterday Grin

@BlackAmericanoNoSugar

I have never related to something so much in my life. Grin

Oldraver · 22/06/2020 19:50

I do like Sloggis but the nasty zigzag elastic cuts into me

Bertucci · 22/06/2020 19:57

My mil and mum wear Sloggis, so it's a no from me.

I don't really get why people find small pants uncomfortable if you wear the right size.

I like a low rise affair.
