How can DC have a sick bug??!

With all the hand washing and distancing going on?! DC1 threw up Wednesday eve. Put down to anxiety (ongoing and reasonable explanation). DC3 has just woken with explosive diarrhea and now feels sick and dizzy

I’m baffled

If they’ve just been sick, I really doubt it’s Covid. My dd had temp, cough and after a few day’s had tummy pains and was sick. Anxiety can make you sick as can dodgy rivers. I hope they feel better soon.

My son and daughter had corona symptoms (I’m pretty sure it was it). My other daughter had intense tummy pain and vomiting for one night- I think this could also have been the virus from what I’ve read about children’s symptoms.

So I’d get a corona test.

Time2change2 · 20/06/2020 00:39

If it were the river I don’t think your other child would have caught it? It probably a bug. We have had 2 bouts of sickness since lockdown (both in the stricter part) and now I have a stomach bug too. Hardly been anywhere (not even a supermarket) a corner shop a couple of times though and no DC in school at the moment. Stayed 2m from everyone!

My covid test I did myself. We drove to a drive in centre and they gave us the kits. Loads better I think than someone else doing it

Lynda07 · 20/06/2020 00:59

It could be something they ate, Anais. I had a bout a couple of weeks ago and I've not been anywhere; it didn't last long thankfully.

confuddeledconfuddel · 20/06/2020 01:01

My parents are shielding and came down with a tummy bug 3 days ago. They haven't been out of the house and wash down their food. Obviously they are not shielding effectively enough!

AnaisAna · 20/06/2020 06:38

Do you think we should test? Not sure it can be something they ate given two days apart and we’ve all eaten the same?

Diarrhoea can be a symptom of Covid so getting a test will rule it out. Otherwise a bug. Or from the river. Remember they can’t go back to school until 48 hours after the last bout of diarrhoea

Bakeachocolatecaketoday · 20/06/2020 07:15

@AnaisAna

Oldest not in school, youngest two are.

Oldest was in the river on Tuesday, sick on the Weds. could that be the cause?

Some very nasty things in the river - David Walliams was very ill when doing his Thames swim.

Yes he had a covid test which came back negative thankfully. He had to have it due to where I work. I also had a test when I felt unwell which was negative as well. Not pleasant for either of us but had to be done. Also we self isolated till the result came back. I should have said that when I posted but was trying not to be too outing! At the time I didn't think either any of us had it but we had to be tested to be sure.

Sorry that was a reply to thaegum

People seem to have forgotten that stuff makes people sick...other than other people.

They could have touched the bottom on their shoe and got it in their mouths, food poisoning, garden stuff, a whole host of things

It'll be fine

Baaaahhhhh · 20/06/2020 11:25

Yesterday I had all the symptoms of a stomach bug. I also don't eat meat and had eaten some fairly innocuous food on the day/the day before, so no idea where it came from

Just as likely to get food poisoning from vegetable/salad matter as meat. Salad leaves being one of the most probable.

AnaisAna · 20/06/2020 12:24

We’re booked in this afternoon. DC2 now has a temperature Sad

I hope you all get well soon Flowers

Keep us posted, sending positive hugs. Hubby and I are unwell tonight with sickness and diarrhoea but we think it's the bbq, booze and sun. We don't have a temp but will keep an eye

Pavlova31 · 21/06/2020 03:13

Hoping everyone on this thread who is feeling poorly is feeling better soon Flowers
