I hope this unimaginative thread title doesn't put off all the amazing posters from this group!

As we transition into this new phase things could get interesting....

Still haven't left the houseGrin apart from hospital.

Had my drain out and dressing off. Religiously doing my physio 3 x daily. Weather is so crap.

But it's our wedding anniversary on Thursday so we're going out for lunch at Miller & CarterSmile

Twats Idiots over the road seem to have many, many visitors and mucking about building an extension by hand ( builders visit once a week). He seems to employ children to help move soil, bricks etc. Tier 2 has had no effect on them. Angry

Hope everyone else is well.

Teaistheanswer · 27/10/2020 15:47

Glad all is going well @babysharkdoodoodood and have a lovely anniversary celebration.

I know what you mean @cloudburstagain it is definitely getting too close for comfort now. I felt quite anxious when I realised that the case in my class was in fact the person doing my job whilst I covered extra teaching. Not looking forward to going back now that I've made that connection as feel like I've dodged a bullet. Every day is beginning to feel like a game of Russian roulette!

Cloudburstagain · 31/10/2020 14:12

Has anyone heard more about shielding?
Have they changed the criteria to keep more people in frontline jobs I wonder? If they do put shielding back?

Teaistheanswer · 31/10/2020 14:17

I was thinking about asking just that @cloudburstagain. I don't know of anyone, even in Tier 3 areas, who has received any new letter or instructions as gov website said. I doubt we'll even get a mention in the briefing today either Angry

Teaistheanswer · 31/10/2020 14:24

I was wondering that too @cloudburstagain. Has anyone actually received any new shielding letter as the gov.uk site says they could? I know people in Tier 3 areas but no one has received a new letter so was curious if anyone on here had.

Teaistheanswer · 31/10/2020 14:25

Oh dear thought it had lost my last message Blush

Egghead68 · 31/10/2020 15:26

No letter here. Quelle surprise. Let’s see if we are mentioned at 4pm today... (of course we won’t be).

Cloudburstagain · 31/10/2020 15:29

Nothing here, but am Tier 2 currently.

JamieLeeCurtains · 31/10/2020 15:33

I shall be watching at 4pm.

Egghead68 · 31/10/2020 16:25

Now moved to 5pm

Begonias · 31/10/2020 17:03

We go into tier 3 tomorrow, if I get a shielding letter I will let you know (I'm not holding my breath,as Boris and his gang don't really acknowledge us in his briefings)

AuntieSocia1 · 31/10/2020 18:50

Let's see what they have to say then...

Anewuser · 31/10/2020 19:07

There you go , we just have to be careful!

NervousInYorkshire · 31/10/2020 19:08

We won't be asked to shield again Hmm

Egghead68 · 31/10/2020 19:09

But we should minimise our social contacts and not go to work if we cannot work from home (?? Will there be financial support for this?)

Anewuser · 31/10/2020 19:12

@Egghead, there won't be any financial support and that's why they don't want us to shield. The fact that a lot of us can't work from home and are unable to social distance in school etc means nothing.

Egghead68 · 31/10/2020 19:13

No I realise that Sad

MacDuffsMuff · 31/10/2020 20:03

I work in a school too @Anewuser. I think Boris must think that we're magic people who can go from shielding to fending off this virus with ease. It's bloody worrying isn't it.

Egghead68 · 31/10/2020 20:43

I understood his odd “not go to work if we cannot work from home” to mean that if you are CEV and work in a school or anywhere else you should not go to work (and should survive on thin air presumably if you can’t WFH).

MacDuffsMuff · 31/10/2020 20:57

That vague statement just sounded like he didn't really know what to suggest tbh @Egghead. I'm guessing the unions will be all over that so some real clarification.

Egghead68 · 31/10/2020 21:06

I haven’t found the unions pro-active so far. Let’s hope this changes.

Cloudburstagain · 31/10/2020 23:18

So no shielding. Just take extra precautions.

I am much more worried this time than in March. In March I felt that people followed rules more. Now I know far too many people who are going out when they or their kids told to self-isolate. Which means I now feel I cannot go out. Well apart from to teach the same teenagers who do not follow rules.

Extra precautions?? Such as?

Hope those who are not teachers are at least allowed to work fro, home now.

NervousInYorkshire · 31/10/2020 23:23

Shopping online if possible (will we still be charged the same for supermarket priority slots as regular ones?), and avoiding unnecessary social contact unless you're in a job or position where you can't avoid it, in which case keep it up.
That's all reassuring then...

Cloudburstagain · 31/10/2020 23:26

Just read Gov website - it says Mon 2nd Nov full guidance will be published and all those who are ECV will be written to.
