Mifepristone for termination (possibly triggering?)

Posted yesterday in 'pregnancy choices' but not much traffic over there so hoping someone with some experience will see this. I'm having a surgical abortion next week and have been given mifepristone to take 24hrs before my appointment. I thought this was only used in medical abortions. I need to take public transport to get to this appointment and I'm panicking that I'll start bleeding loads or experiencing some other side effect before I can even get there. Please can anyone who has had to use mifepristone before, tell me what happened afterwards? TIA.

I had a tablet abortion, I started bleeding several hours after taking the tablets. Probably best you check with the clinic to be sure, I'm not sure why they are giving it for surgical so hopefully they can explain. Hope you're ok

Thank you Gin. It's to prepare the cervix apparently but I've researched (googled) mifepristone and I can't work out whether that by itself will cause bleeding. I should have asked more questions at the clinic really.
