Any opticians about?

Would really appreciate some help with my contacts...

Looking at my prescription what contacts go in what eye?

This is my first lot since lockdown and they've not written L or R on them and I can't work it out 🙈

CL's don't always correspond exactly with the spectacle prescription due to the fact they are placed on the eye rather than away from the eye which will alter the prescription slightly so the above should be correct. If in doubt though you should be able to ring your optician to confirm as they should be all open now!
(I'm a dispensing optician by the way!)🙂

Thank you so much! I've had so much bother with them that I'm not even confident trying them in each eye and trying to work it out. This is my last go with them before I give up for good. For some reason my opticians is still closed.

Good luck, it's always tricky with high astigmatism and CL's, I'm the same and I must have tried every CL out there😆fortunately I work in an independent opticians so as soon as anything new comes out i try it! Surprised your optician isn't open yet, we have been open for emergencies only since beginning of lockdown and have opened more fully this week-some of the multiples(V.E, boots etc) have been closed during lockdown though 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Seashell80 Boots & V.E did keep some practices open for emergencies & key workers.
Not sure what’s happening with the other multiple.
My DH indie was closed.

Seashell80 · 19/06/2020 17:05

@arapunzel Yes, you are right. Some of the multiples had hubs open for emergencies a bit like the dentists did, just a shame that this information was not well publicised over lockdown, it seems as though eyecare was a bit forgotten about. It doesn't help when the governing bodies can't seem to get their act together either 🙄 we have had an optometrist/DO available all through lockdown for emergencies/repairs and general enquiry's. We have still been supplying lenses to our CL patients and delivering any specs that were needed. Doesn't look like this has been the case across the board, mores the pity.

@seashell80 just out of interest what is it on the prescription that made you notice I had a bad astigmatism? It's mentioned everytime I have an eye test but I'm not totally sure how bad it is?

@guidedogneeded it's the CYL part of your prescription that denotes astigmatism, it's a reasonable amount(I have -2.75 cyls) but nowhere near the worst I've seen! Just a pain when it comes to CL's !

guidedogneeded · 19/06/2020 23:39

Ok thank you, it seems to get brought up quite a lot but I've never asked just how bad it must be 🙈
For years I was told I couldn't get contacts then when I was told six months ago I could I thought it would be the answer to all my prayers but it's just not working out.
Hopefully eventually I will get the lenses to match my wonky eyes 😂

I've made peace with the fact I will never be a full time CL wearer, high days and holidays for me!
