Are the old £20 notes still being accepted in shops?

I sold something on Facebook and the woman paid me with an old £20 note. My nearest bank isn't in walking distance and I don't have a car so don't really want to use public transport just to go to the bank. Can I still spend it in the shops?

Hi Do you mean the paper ones? If so yes they are lovely. Haven't been taken out of circulation yet. X

Yes, the paper ones. Thank you, I did google but it wasn't much help.

There’s been no announcement from The Bank of England when the old notes will be withdrawn.

I was just thinking the other day when I dug-out an old summer jacket. I have been known to hide /lose money around the house and I realised that I haven't seen a paper £20 since the new ones came out - usually they are in circulation with the new ones, but not seen one.
