Hi not sure where to start but need advise , feel so embarased by the whole mess .
Met my ex partner 3 years ago very charming and convincing he moved into my house and then we made the decision to buy a house together so joint mortgage , he didnt pay any deposit , walked out of 2 jobs he told me he got made redundant ! i have basically supported him and paid the mortgage/ bills . I also found out he had a £70,000 payout and god knows where thats gone .
He has moved out left me in debt , emptied half the house whilst i was at work , emotionally im a mess but my question is what rights does he have over the house ? there is also a couple of bookcases that he says if i touch hell take legal action , where do i stand ?
thanks in advance

If he agrees to sell the house, you should get your deposit back and any money he owes you, then you share any remaining profit.

He can't sell it without your consent. You also can't without his.

You need advice from a solicitor about if he hasn't paid into the mortgage.

He sounds a loser. Be very glad he's gone! Xxx

He can't sell it without your consent. You also can't without his.

This depends on how the property is registered with the land registry if in England. Properties can be sold without a residents consent or landlords would need tenants to consent when they sold houses.

Op whose names are on the house deeds, is it both of you or just one or the other?

Jessica75 · 19/06/2020 06:42

both names are on mortgage/deeds

Give him x number of days to collect the bookcases saying if he hasn’t, you’ll consider them abandoned and get rid. If he wants them fell arrange for them to be collected, assuming you want rid.
