Are people really making tiny babies wear these?

I was horrified to see this post on my FB page. It was shared by a friend as she was shocked to see it too.
Some of the pics appear to be possibly from US, but as far as I can tell the CDC In America has stated that children under 2 should not wear them.
I understand that children over the age of 2 can/should where face coverings in certain circumstances here in the UK. Surely there aren’t people out there putting face masks on tiny, vulnerable babies. Babies have smaller airways and it would inhibit their breathing and be a possible choking hazard.

Are people really making tiny babies wear these?

Oh for the love of god. Some people have zero common sense.

UnfinishedSymphon · 18/06/2020 17:04

OMG, ridiculous - and those stupid headbands and bows which can slip down and suffocate a baby. They should be banned

xmummy2princesx · 18/06/2020 17:06

That’s ridiculous

That's incredibly disturbing

Someone in my local Facebook group put a post up saying she had made masks for babies for sale, photo of her very young baby wearing one - it was jumped on right away and deleted and a post put up reminding those who had seen it that it was not safe to put them on babies.

So dangerous! Hopefully midwives are giving good advice about this.

recycledteenager24 · 18/06/2020 17:52

masks and headbands with bows are wankerish and dangerous to boot

Dollywilde · 18/06/2020 17:53

Jesus Christ

StrawberryJam200 · 18/06/2020 17:56

I was thinking today how many many people, myself included if I'm honest, still feel like a mask is there to protect us, even when we know it protects others!

I suspect this is where this comes from.

Stepoffthecarousel · 18/06/2020 18:00

A 13 day old baby has just died of Covid but yeah masks aren't the answer for someone so small. Other methods are needed I.e. strict social distancing.

mumwon · 18/06/2020 18:33

rain covers the type that fold over buggies or prams types you can leave a bit open (for air) if you are worried (I wouldn't I would just make sure people keep their distance)

crazychemist · 18/06/2020 18:42

Oh dear. I can totally believe that people do this. Very worrying, poor little babies
