Hi I’m looking at maths tutors for my son, age 9, mainly to help him catch up and revise key topics before he goes back to school. He’s quite capable at maths but loses concentration easily and then thinks he can’t do it and either switches off or gets frustrated. I’m a LP and working FT, and I can’t spend as much time with him as I’d like.
I’m new to the whole tutor thing, so I was wondering how many sessions a week we should be looking at. Is 1 hr a week enough to make a difference? Is 2 hrs too much? I don’t want to overload him obvs. I’m looking for someone with specific primary experience but is there anything else that’s important, skills wise? It will all be done online so I’m trying to find someone who’s done lots of this type of teaching, rather than just adapting to the current situation.
Thanks for any advice
