Mumsnet has pointed me in the direction of great food recommendations in the past, so keeping my fingers crossed again...
We are travelling from Warwickshire to the Lakes at the end of July. We have afternoon tea booked at 2pm at our destination, so ideally would stop for 'brunch' somewhere mid-late morning. I guess south of Manchester.
We don't want to stop at a service station (I'd make an exception for Gloucester or Tebay, but clearly neither of them are en route) - so, where shall we stop that is within spitting distance of the motorway?
Let's assume that everywhere is open by the time we go - any and all recommendations (particularly for slightly quirky places) gratefully received.
