Got married to husband 4 years ago and we have a baby girl. Registered her with husbands surname. I never changed my surname. The whole process just seems so long and I actually like my surname..

Now thinking about futurw holidays.. will this cause any problems if me and her went without my husband?

I have birth certificate and marriage certificate which I will carry with me.

Anyone in the same situation? Any advice? Pleasee

I’ve been away once with my daughter who has a different surname to me. Took birth certificate and letter from OH. We were stopped on the journey home and my daughter was questioned - she was 7 and had been awake for almost 24 hours by then and couldn’t answer! We were waved through. Not a cat in hell’s chance of me changing my surname.

You’ll need a letter from your husband stating that he gives permission for you to take her out of the country.

He’ll need the same from you if he ever took her abroad without you too, despite the fact they have the same name they can still be questioned
