Barn owls

It has never occurred to me before just how creepy barn owl faces are.

Google it.

The big black eyes; it's like staring into an abyss. I can't tear myself away.

Are they creepy or have I been slipped some drugs?

I'm not scared. I don't think I'm about to get attacked by an owl, obviously.

But they ARE creepy 
I'm sorry that the perfection in their form is lost on you.

They are exquisite. Even if their children aren't exactly lookers.

@MitziK I think you're getting me a bit wrong. I am absolutely not saying that they aren't amazing.

But there pure seemingly endless pools of black eyes creep me out. Not entirely sure you're a bit grumpy with that

Did you know that owls have really long legs?

wheresmymojo · 17/06/2020 00:00

Anyone interested in watching a live feed of barn owls nesting have a look at Len Pick owl trust. They are quite near where I live and they have 4 chicks at the moment, I spend far too much time watching them.

Think about how relieved Barn Owls must have been once humans finally invented barns.

We have a barn owll box and last year they had 4 babies that made it to adulthood , including this feisty little one who crahlanded at DHs feet whilst still learning to fly

This is going to bother me all night now @XDownwiththissortofthingX

It's right up there with 'were vampires afraid of crosses before the crucifixion'

@TheTroutofNoCraic

Up until the days got longer, I used to see a barn owl at approx 6am and 9pm, swooping about for mice in the field behind my house. I miss that wee weird face.
The owl says the same about you :o

Oh such cute legs! Along with hares I find owls (barn owls especially) absolutely magical.
