Ocado ditching Waitrose for M&S, Why on earth?

(reposting here as probably more suitable topic..)

Ocado, what are you up to? Ditching Waitrose for M&S? Is this really happening? Not a fan of M&S at all in the food department, feels to me as they are always trying too hard. M&S food looks and taste like plastic, and wrapped in a lot more plastic.

I will be setting up my account with Waitrose.com in due course. Such a hassle moving though as I have it all sorted with Ocado for speedy shopping, and already used to where everything is in the virtual shop, all my favourites and lists etc.. will need to start from scratch. A real shame as the Ocado service is amazing!

Hey Ocado, if you are reading this, can you set up a cloud service for us migrating customers so we can do a backup of all our favourites before moving to Waitrose? You know, like when moving from Android to IOS...thanks!

Is anyone else annoyed with the situation?

Seems irrelevant where I am, as there haven't been any slots since the beginning of March, even when you're on the list of all the other supermarkets.

I won't be using them again.

lockdowndreamer · 16/06/2020 00:07

@MitziK fair enough but Waitrose.com is the same, or at least was the same last time I checked. Surly it's covid distortion?

This is not news, it was announced ages ago! The time to be annoyed has long gone. There was a billion threads here at the time. It was rubbish then and is still rubbish.

We will be moving after the pandemic as was always our intention, but right now I need the slots!

Nah, Waitrose, Sainsbury's and Iceland all managed to have slots for people on the vulnerable list here.

@MitziK sorry I think my last message was a bit confusing, I meant to say that slots were NOT available on both Waitrose and Ocado websites and I am sure all the others as you said, so why "punishing" Ocado in particular? Or did I misunderstood? Sorry.. i should really go to bed.. Confused

I work for waitrose whilst at uni so find this interesting but have to admit I much prefer M&S food

RogueV · 16/06/2020 01:13

Where have you been?!

I’m all for it

Because I was able to get deliveries from the others - it was only Ocado, who I had been exclusively using since the early 2000s, who refused to accept that I was on the list - even when I contacted customer service, the response was along the lines of 'we've added everybody, don't' bother us again'. A more sensitive person might read that as 'stop trying to pull a fast one, you scam merchant' - I favour 'We can't be arsed to check if our systems actually work as we claim they did'.

ArseholesOnToast · 16/06/2020 17:13

Ocado delivery man told me recently it was Waitrose who wanted to end the partnership, not Ocado.

Apparently Waitrose want to expand their existing home delivery service so Ocado got ditched.

My local Waitrose delivery is shocking. I’ll go to the shop for some Waitrose stuff but continue with Ocado for their own brand and some of the unusual stuff they stock which I like.

Not keen on M and S.

PicaK · 16/06/2020 18:01

Not annoyed because it was announced over a year ago. I'll stick with Ocado tho because I mostly go for Ocado own brand and they've been amazing during lockdown.

They’d do better partnering with Aldi.

I use Waitrose online and I’ve only had good experiences.
