Any seasons experts / colours Queens?

Hiya, having saved a few pounds over lock down not buying fast fashion / junk I've decided to update my wardrobe a bit.

Would anyone be an expert in seasons / colours?

Photo attached, this is the natural me - hair colour, brows etc.

I'm nearly 40 and I've never really known what colours really suit me, I'd so like to get it right before I die Grin

Thanks in advance

I’m no expert but from your photo I’d say you were an autumn anuschkarees.com/blog/2013/09/24/colour-analysis-part-i-finding-your-type

RobinHumphries · 15/06/2020 10:46

Or using this one I’d say you were a true autumn theconceptwardrobe.com/which-season-are-you

Darkestseasonofall · 15/06/2020 11:03

Thanks @RobinHumphries I thought maybe the same after some googling. But if a shame that none of my clothes are the right colours, but at least it explains why I look so washed out.
Do you dress for your season? Has it made a difference?

You look similar colouring to me and I used to wear autumn colours. Having looked into colours years ago, those colours are wrong for me and I am cool summer/winter. You need to look at the colour palette for each group and try it against you.

RobinHumphries · 15/06/2020 11:21

I’m a winter and I do dress for my season. The colours do suit me

CallmeAngelina · 15/06/2020 11:23

I was always told that you should NEVER just guess.

But my first thought was Autumn, too! Grin

HotSince82 · 15/06/2020 11:27

I have no idea OP just came on to say you have a lovely face.

PastramiNoRye · 15/06/2020 11:27

I'm quite interested in this but I'm never sure if I'm a warm spring or a warm autumn!

Darkestseasonofall · 15/06/2020 11:43

Aaw thanks @Hotsince82 that's really kind of you!
@PastramiNoRye put a photo up and let us have a go at analysing you?
@woodlandwalker that's interesting, I'm in Wales so no shops open yet to try colour matching, but I might buy a few vest tops in various colours, and if they don't work for me they can always be worn underneath things.

Darkest - you can try with clothes you already have. I have heard that summer is by far the most common colour for white English people and that there are far less spring/autumn. Obviously most black people are winter as are people with the "Snow White" colouring.

GazeboParty · 15/06/2020 12:17

I'd say you were closest to Autumn. I dress a bit with my season in mind - but I have my doubts about some of the colours close to my skin. I'd say it's a good starter for 10 but it's not a religion for me.

Darkestseasonofall · 15/06/2020 12:19

@RossPoldarkFan that's interesting about most people being summer in England, I'm Welsh though and I guess fairly Celtic looking, so maybe that's why I don't identify with the winter colours at all?

Darkestseasonofall · 15/06/2020 12:22

@RossPoldarkFan summer not winter sorry!

You're very pretty OP! I think it's too hard to diagnose from a photo (if I had to guess I'd say summer or autumn) and it can also be hard to do it yourself as it's hard to be objective! I was told as a child that I was an autumn so when I went to house of colour in 2001 I was absolutely gobsmacked to be told I'm a summer! I have green eyes, freckles and reddish tints in my hair so I can see why people might say I'm an autumn but I'm definitely not.

Some clues to help you......what metal looks better on you? Silver or gold? Do you look best with a blue based red or warm orange red? There's a theory that we are instinctively drawn to our colours which only made sense to me after I was done....my favourite colours are pinks, purples and blues.

My advice would be save up and be draped by House of Colour, it's expensive but worth it if you want to really buy into it. I haven't worn anything but 'my' colours in all these years and will never buy anything I know to be wrong again. You don't need to have the style class if you don't want to, colours will also cover make up colours too.

Rebooking · 15/06/2020 12:42

Following Smile My eyes are a similar colour but my hair is darker and more ash and my skin is a bit more cool.

I don't want to spend money in colour analysis but people who use colour effectively always look lovely Envy

PolloDePrimavera · 15/06/2020 13:32

You look lovely OP, the teal top you are wearing suits you.

Darkestseasonofall · 15/06/2020 13:33

@Rebooking I guess you're not autumn if your hair and skin are cool. Can you maybe put a photo up?
@frugalkitty Thanks! I've contacted my local House of Colour consultant, I guess it'd an investment, I'll be wearing clothes for the rest of my life, so it would be fab to get it right!

Have you looked at one of the Colour Me Beautiful books? They have pictures showing the right and wrong colours on models.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 01/12/2021 22:44

@Darkestseasonofall Did you find out?

AllBellyandBoobs · 01/12/2021 22:53

You look similar to me, aside from I have blue eyes. I am a blue autumn.
