Passport for newborn

We have a long booked holiday to the Netherlands in August. We still haven't made our minds up if we should go but have the problem that we haven't got a passport for our baby (born April) as our local authority isn't registering births.

Has anyone else been in this situation? I will call the Passport Office tomorrow but hoped some one may be able to provide some positivity!

I'm in a similar situation, could you update after you've spoken to them please?

derbyshiregirly not great news I'm afraid. The registrar office is going to open very shortly but the passport office said they cannot give me a timeframe for completion of a child's first passport nor can they fast track it.

In fact the man told me I shouldn't have booked a holiday without a passport! I explained that I had booked it before this baby was even conceived...

Thanks for the update. Hopefully you get yours sorted in time!

It took 6 weeks for me to get my DS renewal . So a new one may take a while. It may speed up with lockdown easing. Ensure whoever is confirming our identity will respond asap. As that can delay it
