Anyone know anything about old silver?

This is a silver cigarette case I found in my dad's shed this morning (it was a slightly different colour then!)
Where's it from? I've posted a close-up of what I think is maybe a maker's mark.
Can anyone help?

Was your dad in the military/maritime employment? Looks possibly like something engraved while at sea or something?

Does it have a hallmark? If so you can find out date and place of manufacture.

No hallmark. From the engraving, it was probably made overseas. Dad was in the catering corps, so he didn't get it! We had a pub in my young days though, and I know he knew a lot of old soldiers.
