Ovarian Cyst

Hi, I've been diagnosed with a 5cm ovarian cyst after a mri scan on my kidneys (I'm going forward as a kidney donor for my oh)
I'm going for a scan on Tuesday but I was wondering if anyone had pain up their side and into their ribs from an ovarian cyst

I've had two that I know about, the pain was never that high up for me. Mainly lower left side, but mine were both on the left side. I knew instantly with my second that the pain I was feeling was another cyst. I did however ignore it because it comes and goes, resulting in an ovarian torsion and my goodness that is a different pain level all together, not one I want to repeat ever.

Hi, yes I did. I think it depends on wether it’s pressing on various nerves etc as you move.

Thank you for your reply. I was getting worried. At times it feels like theres something swollen or pulling ( a strange sensation) at my ribs, especially when I'm lying on my side. I'll mention it when I go for my scan

I get this too, I have a 6cm cyst, on the same side I get pain in my sides and ribs, I thought I was having a heart attack at one point but I think it is from the pressure and pressing on nerves. What did they say at your scan? X

Hi OP, I'm just chipping in to say that yes I have experienced a similar sort of pain from an ovarian cyst, although not hitting up to my ribs. I also experienced a strange sensation similar to early pregnancy when I slept on my side. Like another has said, depends on the nerves and where its pressing I guess!

They said my cysts now 6.5 cm, its fluid filled so shouldn't be anything to worry about. I've to return in October for another scan but I'm getting quite a bit of pain on and off now so I might need to see about getting something done sooner
