Anyone got a wheelybug? Are they worth it?

Looking for my one years old birthday next month and these appeal more than the tacky plastic ride on but more so to me than to him

My dc loved theirs, in fact they still played on it until around age 6/7

We have one - 15 years old now. My 10 yr old still plays with it occasionally. It's a ladybird and he is called Gaston

Yes, we owned ours for about a decade and then passed it on to a friend as a garden toy as it was looking a bit tired but still useable.

Ours was also Gaston the ladybird!

We had Gaston too. But dd rarely used it.
It was a fab present for the day. Then it became a nice feature in the background of photographs.

We had a bee for DD's 1st birthday, she liked to twang the antenna bit never did any more than that. She never pushed it, other than out of the way! She never sat on it ever. Massive waste of money, except it was second hand and I sold it on for what I paid for it!

We have the Tiger, called Tim. My 9 yo was on him the other day. He's probably one of the few things I'd keep for grand kids.

Neither of my kids had any interest in theirs. We sold it in immaculate condition second hand for a fraction of what we paid for it. I'd say buy a second hand one.

We have the ladybird, it's second hand and I'm glad I didn't pay anything because it's hardly been used. DS is 3 now and only uses it when his sister shows interest. It's only really used for 2 minutes every two weeks or so.

Both mine loved ours. It lasted almost 10 years before it started to look a bit worn out. Compulsory 1st birthday present as far as I'm concerned 😁

@SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing Is there a specific reason you'd recommend the bee? I only ask because the cow is so cute

Littlemiss I don't think I could part with ours either. He makes a cracking footstool too.

Is there any difference in types apart from looks? I like the Cow but the Bee seems the most recommended

ours is Gaston too, who knew! DS2 got it last Christmas he was just over 1. Father Christmas cleverly got him a very good condition second hand one at a great price. He’s only really started using it much now he’s nearly two, but both he and his 4 year old brother happily whizz around on it now

I think they're one of the best buys ever. My two loved theirs and worth every penny imo. We had the cow. Aw they're hairy teenagers now!!

We’ve got the mouse. Bought it 2nd hand. Dd isn’t overly keen though.

DD isn't interested in hers much She did used to push it about a bit when learning to walk but she had to stoop to do it so didn't like it as much as a taller walker. No interest on sitting on it at all!

Yes, our bee got over 10 years of use across 3 children and it was only the small one.

It was too battered to pass on (the vinyl cover had taken a beating) but someone handy could probably have recovered it and the wheels & base were still immaculate.

Yes, my parents bought all their grandchildren one for their first birthdays (one per household not each child). My 8 year old DD still plays on hers! She’s got the tiger.

Our DD loves her bee. It's not actually the wheely bug but the cheaper version available on Amazon!
