Moving preparations

Hi
I'll be moving (work relocation) as soon as it's allowed/practical.
Can anyone give me an idea of how long it would take to pack? I have a small one bedroom flat and would like to start doing an hour a day over the next few weeks. Is that feasible or do I need to take time off work and do it all in one go? What I'm finding hard to imagine is how to live a normal life still needing my things when they're packed up. I also have much less space than last time I moved and am not sure where I'm going to put all the boxes.

I tried to keep most of the boxes from my last move. Any ideas of what else it would be helpful for me to buy. I suppose I need thick tape and a marker pen. Maybe a tape 'gun' and a wardrobe box? I have lots of random possessions and some furniture, quite a lot of which is still disassembled from my last move.

Last question, as charity shops aren't open, what can I do with anything I don't think it's worth taking with me. I'd find it hard to put it in the bin.

TIA

When I moved out of my last rented flat, I did it all in one evening. But I didn't have much beyond clothes and a few books and CDs. When I moved out of the first flat I owned I had furniture and tons more decorative stuff and kitchen stuff and all sorts. Took a good fortnight of evenings.

When I moved out of my first house I used a removal company and their packing service and it was amazing. Would never pack myself again.

You will need about twice as many boxes as your first imagine.

Thanks Dappled. It's a rented flat, but everything except the kitchen fittings are my own. Furniture, books, bed clothes, etc. Two or three weeks would sound about right then.
