Racist memes on Facebook - if reported, do people get banned?

Eventually? I have been reporting memes today and FB are deleting but will they also ban the perpetrator?

Probably not I'm surprised fb is actually deleting them I coulfnt even get them to delete a troll advertising sexual services on an article about a dead person another spambot was offering his services as a witch doctor neither of these broke Facebook guidelines despite being obviously spam

ARudeTerriblePerson · 13/06/2020 23:58

Racist hate speech does break guidelines. I just wonder if they do anything to stop the filth.

No. If it's in a group the best you can hope for is that the admin might ban them from the group.

flamingochill · 14/06/2020 00:00

Unlike Twitter, Facebook haven't commented on Trump's postings

ARudeTerriblePerson · 14/06/2020 00:00

Really?

I might have to write to that nice Nick Clegg.

Nope, any type of racism gets ignored mostly (just pointing out racism can happen to anyone just so you understand) and people often get away with offensive, racist, sexist comments or severe harassment of celebrities, groups, religions ect

Redcrayons · 14/06/2020 00:53

I’ve never heard of anyone being banned from FB. It’s the worst out of all of them.

TheEmpressMatilda · 14/06/2020 00:53

I once reported some graphic photos on a dog fighting group (graphic to the point it would make you sick if I even described it) and Facebook said it didn’t break their rules.

Better hope the racists are also breastfeeding, that appears to be the only thing FB takes action against.

ARudeTerriblePerson · 14/06/2020 01:01

I can't believe it.

So who is the publisher? Does FB claim that that is a grey area?

You lot must nearly all be seeing the same racist memes as I am at the moment - I'm seeing them shared/reproduced on various forums. You only have to glance to see that they are blatantly racist, I did get a video taken down. I'm waiting to hear about another disgusting meme. I'm not about to let this rest.

FB mods apparently disagree with Zuckerberg over the Trump decision. Zuckerberg claims that FB is trying to tackle Fake News but it seems to be the biggest defenders of Free Speech and allowing disinformation.

There was a massive court case where FB paid mods damages for PTSD. I suspect it does not care.
