WTF. Help me identify this virus (not Corona) that keeps recurring??!!

Before lockdown DC had a virus.

DS started, was hot and cold, sore throat, tiredness, headache, sore legs, then vomiting for 24 hours. Afterwards he had a mouth ulcer.

Then DD, just hot and cold and vomiting.

Then me, nauseous but not actually vomiting, afterwards I got clusters of tiny ulcers under the base of my tongue (like on the 'joiny bit') made it really painful to eat. Also a few tiny ulcers on palms of hands, fingers, and around my back, these not painful but itchy and burny.

All healed.

Twice since, including just now, the ulcers have come back in the exact same places as before (just me), and my back feels a strange kind of sore around the ulcers. Back to being sore to eat.

Anyone any idea what this could be??

Have you had a test for Covid-19?

Another vote for hand foot and mouth

LolaColaMola · 13/06/2020 22:44

Shingles? I had it on my hand. Looked like tiny little blisters and was sore around it too. I wasn't ill with it but I think you can be.

Covid-20?

AnnaSW1 · 13/06/2020 22:54

I've had hand foot and mouth. It's pretty much like this.

SuperFurryDoggy · 13/06/2020 22:58

Chickenpox?

One of my DC only had a couple of spots. We only realised it was chickenpox when her DB erupted head to toe in them about 2 weeks later!

woodpidgeons · 13/06/2020 22:59

Not had a test for COVID. I can't drive, have no one to drive me to get tested. Can you get antibody tests in the post?? This happened at first in early March. The ulcers have come back twice now.

I did think hand feet and mouth / shingles. Didn't know HFM could recur.

Googled (I know!!) and scared myself with Coxsackie virus B.

It does feel 'herpes-y' (I get cold sores and the tingly and slightly unwell feeling is similar).

Hmm.

Sorry, forgot to say that the almost unaffected DC had mouth ulcers but only about half a dozen seemingly not-itchy spots.

Moo7878 · 13/06/2020 23:02

Hand Foot and Mouth sprang to mind too. My DD felt really sick with it.

woodpidgeons · 13/06/2020 23:05

I had chickenpox at age 7. Gave it to an adult neighbour and he was off work for ages.

DCs both had chickenpox separately at around age 2. Mildly too.

I think DS had hand feet and mouth around age 2/3. There was an outbreak in his Childcare at the time and he got it.

I didn't know either could recur, interesting to hear they can.

Woke up with a sore throat on one side Confused Confused.

Not been anywhere except outdoor walks not touching anything and a far distance from anyone, in weeks and weeks, shopping delivered and carefully wiped down in dettol etc, prescription delivered the other day but stayed mostly behind the door and it was a split second, not touched it yet. Have a shielding family member.

Really hoping it can't be Corona then surely??!!

It just sounds like hand foot and mouth

woodpidgeons · 14/06/2020 18:16

No idea how I could've caught anything given I've not been in contact with anyone for weeks.
