By adding spinach to their Macaroni Cheese.
Spinach is only ok on a week day apparently. Who knew?

@LisaSimpsonsbff

I'm so with you, OP! Kale is even better than spinach but macaroni cheese is really bland without some veg in it but amazing with a green veg added in
Macaroni cheese should never be bland if it is made properly. It is my favourite meal- unfortunately I am in a healthy eating and exercise phase and am avoiding it. It is the food of the Gods.

M 3 year old DD wept real tears this morning because she wanted a round egg, not an egg shaped egg and I am naughty to not buy round eggs.

@WinWinnieTheWay

I thought the pop of colour would add interest...
That is what a sprinkling of parsley (or chives) is for! Grin

I can't imagine spinach in macaroni cheese adds any taste or texture other than bits between your teeth.

Fatted · 13/06/2020 20:24

You make me sick OP.

I made my kids a beige banquet of chicken nuggets, fish nuggets (posh fish fingers), onion rings, mozzarella sticks and chips tonight. With a load of ketchup. And yes, it was all from Iceland for extra chav points. That is proper Saturday night food! Or pizza.

underneaththeash · 13/06/2020 20:25

I really like spinach (not not in macaroni cheese) - it needs ham or bacon and then peas by the side.

WinWinnieTheWay · 13/06/2020 20:27

@Fatted

The DC want to come and live with you..

My macaroni is always bland - anyone have a winning recipe they can share?

IKEA888 · 13/06/2020 20:29

always spinach and shock horror broccoli in ours. The only way they will eat green stuff

Samtsirch · 13/06/2020 20:29

I do agree with your dc OP, spinach has no place in macaroni cheese.
In a curry perhaps...
If it makes you feel better, I was often accused of ruining my dc WHOLE
LIFE not just Saturday night 😆

lotusbell · 13/06/2020 20:29

Love spinach, don't think I'd put it in macaroni cheese but willing to try it.
I used to make a delicious Annabel Karmel recipe when my son was a baby Popeye Pasta. Spinach wilted then blended with cream cheese and a bit of cheddar, poured over pasta. I still make it now.

Samtsirch · 13/06/2020 20:30

@Fatted
I want to come and live with you too!!

OhCaptain · 13/06/2020 20:31

You ruined it. Spinach doesn’t belong on a Saturday.

Shitfuckoh · 13/06/2020 20:32

@Fatted I don't like onion rings but can I come to live with you too?

Iloveacurry · 13/06/2020 20:35

Tell them there’s always beans on toast.

Candyfloss99 · 13/06/2020 20:35

Noooooooo

HunkyPunk · 13/06/2020 20:37

The most comforting meal ever is cauliflower and macaroni cheese - the best of two magnificent dishes!

ComDummings · 13/06/2020 20:39

Spinach in macaroni cheese?! Fuck no. I love both but they do not belong together, you monster

LillianBland · 13/06/2020 20:39

[quote TheMandalorian]Grin cheeky monkeys.
I'm of the opinion that mac and cheese has ruined the spinach.

Absolutely. I love spinach and add it to practically everything. Mac and cheese is 🤢

WinWinnieTheWay · 13/06/2020 20:40

It looks nice though!

It was beige. At least you added the red sauce for a bit of colour. My oldest boy is 30 and would want to marry you.
FuchsiaFox · 13/06/2020 20:41

Please share your wonderful mac and cheese recipes if you would be so kind!

WinWinnieTheWay · 13/06/2020 20:42

I've now also confessed to using fusilli, a breadcrumb and cheese topping and a chipped bowl.
Confused

Kenworthington · 13/06/2020 20:43

I always put spinach in my macaroni cheese. And cauliflower and crispy pancetta. It’s SOO good

Livpool · 13/06/2020 20:44

A vegetable in a Saturday night tea?!

What kind of monster are you OP

😱😡

mylittlesandwich · 13/06/2020 20:46

DH put garlic in our most recent mac & cheese. I was not happy. He's never done it before! Just heaps of good strong cheddar is all you need. I mean I ate it but I wasn't happy.

He launched a defence campaign because we didn't have macaroni pasta so it was fusilli therefore wasn't mac & cheese so normal rules didn't apply.
