Anyone Looking Forward To “ Normal” Shopping?

A lot of shops are opening again on Monday but I don’t know how I feel. It certainly won’t be the experience it used to be. The queuing for a start. And not being able to take your time, browsing & handling lots of things. Also guessing we won’t be able to try clothes on etc? Or shoes? And in some shops, social distancing could be difficult or impossible. I didn’t get chance for “ retail therapy” very often anyway but it makes me sad that it will be so different indefinitely 😢

If I buy a shirt in shop, take it home, can I return it if I change my mind or find it looks like crap on my body after I get home?

YeOldeTrout You’re not entitled to a return anyway if the item is not faulty and you just want to return it because you’ve changed your mind/it doesn’t look good.

A lot of retailers will complete those returns to be nice but they don’t have to.

I imagine policy will vary by retailer. Maybe this will be the end of fast fashion, if you have to be sure you're happy with the purchase before you even touch the item.

Death of charity shops, for sure.

Most of the shops say they will still do returns but will quarantine items for 72 hours after they are returned. Primark will do contactless returns so at customer services they scan the tag as you hold the item apparently but you then put it in a basket at the side so they don't take it from you and handle it. I certainly wouldn't buy anything if there was no changing room open and no returns accepted so with the former closed, I think they will stick with the latter otherwise people won't buy stuff probably.

Matalan stores that have homewares (classes as essential) have been open during lockdown and you could buy non-homewares at same time. The rest of their stores are opening from tomorrow I believe.

I'm not going tomorrow but will be later in the week, think we all need to "use it or lose it" as well as support jobs in the retail sector. My son is also desperate for new clothes ie a lot don't actually fit him now, so I will be going to the shops with a child for first time since lockdown started. However I don't think it will be a "normal" shopping experience by any stretch.
