Do you freeze your meat?

Sometimes I'll will freeze chicken breasts or mince if I'm not going to be using them in the next few days but a few weeks back I got a Tesco delivery on a Wednesday and I had ordered a whole chicken for Sunday lunch but it went out of date on the Saturday so I froze it instead.

So what I'm wondering is if I'm going to cook it tomorrow for dinner at 5pm when do I need to take it out of the freezer?

Freezing meat seems so convenient at the time but the defrosting of its confuses me a lot!

Always. I do 2-3 weeks worth of shopping at a time so I have to freeze the meat.

I take it out the freezer and put it into the fridge the night before I want to cook it for dinner.

To be honest if I was planning to eat the chicken on the Sunday and it was only one day out of date I wouldn't have bothered freezing it.

A whole chicken should be defrosted in a fridge. I would allow at least 24 hours

I've never had need to freeze a full chicken, but definitely freeze chicken fillets, mince, steak etc.
Take out the night before & defrost in fridge. Sometimes I use it when i buy it, and cook the mince (sauce for Bolognese/chicken curry/supreme etc) and then freeze the cooked sauces as batch cooking. Depends on my mood!

Evening before. Let it defrost slowly in the fridge.

Take it out tonight and leave it on the side.one defrosted pop iti the fridge until it is time to cook it.

We bought a half cow last week which is filling the freezers nicely. Grin

A whole chicken sorry - Id maybe put it in the fridge the morning of the night before I wanted to cook it instead if it was very big.

A whole chicken could take a couple of days to defrost in the fridge depending on size. Take it out now. I would personally leave it at room temperature for a few hours then leave it to finish defrosting in the fridge

Ok thanks I'll take it out now. I should know this really. It's not an overly big one.
