Zoom: alternative to Zoom whiteboard, for handwriting?

I give maths tuition online using Zoom, and have recently bought a Windows laptop where I can write on the screen with a pen. However, I have found it difficult to write neatly using the "whiteboard" provided by Zoom, especially algebra, and the tools it provides for drawing diagrams are very minimal and fiddly.

Can anyone suggest any programs which are good for quickly writing or typing algebra, and drawing diagrams? They don't have to include the "online communication", because I can screen share them when using Zoom. I've even found Windows Paint to be better than the whiteboard provided by Zoom.

I've just made myself a homemade visualiser. It is an upside down small camping table with various wooden skewers and lolly sticks to make it the right height. It has a spare empty picture frame on the top.
My phone goes on the glass and the camera picks up the whole whiteboard so I can use my analogue whiteboard as usual. I'm going to try it out with Google hangouts and with my phone as an extra person.
I may have to turn off my phone microphone if I get feedback. I've not tried it out properly yet but it hasn't cost me anything!
I'm hoping to get back to face to face tutoring because I don't really like doing it online, so don't want to spend £££ on something I'm only using for a few months ( hopefully).

@EducatingArti Wow, I love your inventiveness! I might try something similar. I'm working on demonstrations I can do online (I tutor physics as well), that's given me some ideas.

Before starting to use the Zoom whiteboard, I was writing on a small actual whiteboard, and holding it up to the camera, but this was slow and awkward. I don't like doing it online either, although I will continue to offer it.

Can you share your screen with zoom? If so, perhaps use one note?

My DD gets English tuition by zoom at the moment and we bought a document-reading-standalone-webcam. DD just has the laptop flipped to that the whole time, though she could toggle between document and laptop camera view. It's working fine.
