Just came on TV and I could feel my teeth grinding with sheer irritation!

" You say either, I say either.....neither, neeeeeeither....but we'll never call the whole thing off"

Arghhh!! 😬🤬

Who's with me? Surely it's not just me.

It might just beat the new Aldi ad with the two massively over enthusiastic parents. "Yum yum yum yum yuuuuuum!" "Friiiiday night.....(altogether!) PIZZA NIGHT! Yeaaahhhh!"

Jeez. Can't we just eat dinner without the cheering and juggling or whatever it is the dad is doing? 🙄

Apparently not. My health visitor told me my new table meant the whole family could chat of an evening. News to me- I always thought talking while eating was rude.

SanityDecreasing · 12/06/2020 15:17

@Dicotyledon, I don't mind sitting together Grin I just don't think you need to turn every dinner time into some sort of display!

Are they still misappropriating the image of the older black gentleman in their marketing?
In 2020??

Windyatthebeach · 12/06/2020 15:42

Nothing as bloody irritating as the Fiends advert.
Friends without the r.

Uncle Ben advert always ruins my whole day when I see it.

SanityDecreasing · 12/06/2020 15:52

@Windyatthebeach, have I been lucky enough to miss this? Which advert?

His name is Frank Brown and was the maitre'd of a restaurant in Chicago. He agreed to have his image used on their publicity material.

I'm guessing that makes it all right?

Windyatthebeach · 12/06/2020 16:22

It's a game to download of some sorts. Haven't got past the irritation to take more notice!!

StrawberryPi · 12/06/2020 16:30

@Dicotyledon, do you normally just sit and eat in silence then!? What about family occasions, Birthday dinners etc?

Dicotyledon · 12/06/2020 16:38

Yep. I always sit in silence. In fact I needed the table because I didn’t talk all day long to my child and then chat to my husband when he came home. Hmm

totallyyesno · 12/06/2020 16:44

StarScream22 · 12/06/2020 16:46

I went for dinner at someone’s house once where they didn’t talk at the table. It was so weird and awkward.

Nicolastuffedone · 12/06/2020 16:47

Really? You just eat and don’t speak to each other?? 😲

SanityDecreasing · 12/06/2020 17:31

Why do you watch the adverts

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 12/06/2020 17:46

@SanityDecreasing several directions in fact. There's lockdown for you Grin

Absofruitly · 12/06/2020 17:48

Surely when the adverts come on, that's your cue to press 'mute', go top up your wine/make a cuppa/talk to your loungemate about the previous segment of the show? Do people actually watch the things?

StarScream22 · 12/06/2020 17:49

Do people actually watch things?

Once I’m sat I’m sat Grin

DrCoconut · 12/06/2020 19:07

My grandparents had a saying, every time you talk you miss a bite. They didn't consider meals to be for talking. Or a leisure activity or treat really. Eating was very functional to them.

OrchidJewel · 12/06/2020 19:32

Oh God YES, it just makes me what to put my hands around their throats. OP bad news there's another one!!! She's pregnant and it's 'you say tomato etc etc I want to hurl

SanityDecreasing · 13/06/2020 08:37

@OrchidJewel, well I'll look forward to that Confused
