Protests this weekend

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere.

I've noticed the odd post within a thread or two saying about footballers protecting statues this weekend but haven't seen anything about planned protests with any details.

Are any protests planned for this weekend? If so, are they in London or elsewhere too?

Will they become a regular thing until the situation changes?

I'm not on Facebook or twitter and find out what is happening on here most of the time.

I found last weekend's scenes awful. If there are protests then I hope the violent troublemakers stay away and allow for peaceful protest.

Apparently Tommy Robinson and his ilk are planning to go to London on Saturday. There's a video of him floating about saying it. To do what, I don't know. I'll be staying home.

The 'footballers' are actually white British alt-right fascist football fan firms who follow people like Tommy Robinson. They say they are patriotic & wear the poppy but plenty of photos show them giving the Sieg Heil.
Basically they're going up for a fight as that lot always get drunk anyway.
But they will get chased out of town as usual I'm sure.
Glad to be at home.

I saw on the news this morning that they are putting up barriers around some statues. Very ineffective barriers from the looks of things.

allow for peaceful protest.

We’re in the middle of a pandemic. There shouldn’t be any protest.

SistemaAddict · 12/06/2020 12:04

I know that but sharing that opinion before has led to me being criticised for not understanding how critical is for the BAME community to protest and how to think they shouldn't is white privilege. I'm shielded, I've been at home for 13 weeks and the protests are risking so much. But as a white person that's not for me to say apparently.

yep, the very suggestion that a mass gathering in the middle of a pandemic which is NOT over is a stupid thing to do makes you a racist. Sorry.

Speaking of education, how’s that plank in your eye doing Soldierboy, bit itchy is it?

SistemaAddict · 12/06/2020 19:26

@Soldierboy2004 is your post directed to me? Who are the "people like you" you are talking about?
