Decaying mouse :(

There is a dead mouse under our floorboards.. I can't remember when but I have been here before and it has the same hot bin full of nappies smell etc.

I'm not sure if we can get the floor up where it is...so has anyone had this happen and left it, how long did it take for the smell to go away?

We had this. 10 days max from memory.

thanks redeye, that's reassuring.

We're on about day 4 - I have put an open box of laundry powder near the spot to mask the smell like I'm some demented serial killer!

We had the same thing loads of times about two weeks I think we got some of these mouse odour sachets and after it happened again we got some sonic plug in things from amazon.
I was dubious these would work but they are awesome and don't affect our pets :)

Happy hunting

a week to 10 days I think.

If it's warm it smells worse but stops quicker.

amazing, thanks all, mouse odour sachets are on the way! I can't use the sonic things as we have guinea pigs..I expect ds already annoys them enough.

It took about ten days for us but the sachets linked above really helped. Ours was under the bathroom floorboards so we thought it was the loo at first and shelled out for two separate plumbers' call-out fees before Mumsnet came to the rescue.
