Early Gender Scan Wrong?

heyy guys im new on this just needed some re assurance im on my second pregnancy and went for a early gender scan at 14 weeks was told deffo a boy she showed me the bits but un sure what i seen lool with my first I knew it was a girl before the sonographer did this time im so lost ive literally got nothing , wouldnt mind either way but i feel so im anxious this time HELP!

14 weeks is very early to find out the sex. Presumably you'll have a 20 week scan as well and can confirm then?

Really confused if they have shown u a boy then it's a boy?

Why can’t you wait until your 20 week?

Just wait until 20 weeks.

If there are bits then there are bits.... they won’t disappear. If they can see boy bits, then it’s a boy. If they tell you it’s a girl, he could just be hiding his bits or the angle isn’t quite right and it’s not definite.

i was originally going to do it later but the clinic suggested i could do it at 14 weeks as they can confirm it that early on and it would be accurate so i couldnt help my self lool , i can wait i guess its just playing with my head because i just knew with my first and this time round i feel very different and have no clue and i didnt make it easier for myself by reading reviews from other people from other places explaining how they had wrong gender confirmations lol

I think it's quite rare to get a boy wrong hun and they can tell that early I've got my gender scan at 16 weeks just be happy your having a boy u don't always get a feeling I was adamant my daughter was a boy lol

if the qualified sonographer was confident in the sex they're probably correct and generally boys are easier to tell. 20 weeks isn't that far off for confirmation though.

@gracex4 yeah i guess your right !! i just thought id know for sure like my first , im feeling the opposite im finding it hard to believe im having a boy i dont know why im shocked and i guess am just scared to get overly happy and then its a girl which i would still would be over joyed but it just confusing but i think your right aswell as everyone else i just need to wait it out , ive got my scan in 5 looong weeks just need to wait it out and stop reading things lol thankyou all for replying and re assuring me lol i dont feel crazy xox

@gracex4 aww your not that far , trust me im just getting more paranoid as the weeks go on asking myself why is my bump so small , and how come im not craving and what not , 😂 just sitting at home and driving myself crazy lool woohoo x

They shouldn’t be able to tell that early so you might be right. I asked at a private scan at 14 weeks and they wouldn’t tell me. The sonographer said that the genitals are swelled in the womb and the testes don’t drop out of the body until around week 16 so before this they can mistake a little winky for a puffy labia. I’d wait on buying gendered stuff until you’ve had another scan

My sister knew with both of hers were at 11 weeks. (Boys). Hers was done through one of those private 4D scans though.

There's also the nub theory isn't there. If it points in a straight line it's a girl if it points up it's a boy.
There's also the pendulum or necklace test. If it spins round it's a girl. Side to side or backwards and forwards it's a boy. I've never known it to be wrong personally.

@Awwlookatmybabyspider i went to a private gender scan too thats where they told me and ive got the scan from my 12 weeks and 14 weeks and iv heard about the nub theory but tbh i dont know what i was looking at i would upload the pic but i dont know how to 😂

@Awkes really? the place i went to told me that they offer early gender scans at 14 weeks and there accurate originally i wanted to go at 16 weeks but she told me i could come as soon as i was 14 wks , but you could be right too

It was ultrasound direct I went to for a private scan and got told that. Ended up booking another scan in a couple of weeks cos I’m dying to find out what I’m having. Tbf the sonographer said he could have a good guess at my 14 week scan but wouldn’t say because they don’t want to tell you one thing and be wrong

@awkes how far gone are you ? i went to see your baby there were really nice tbh and had good reviews and i know the feeling but tbh for me i think whether i was told boy or girl it wouldnt matter i still wouldnt be certain til the 20 weeks scan

I’m 15+1. Same for ultrasound direct. Was happy to pay just so my OH could see baby. Next scans booked in 2 weeks so I’ll be 17 weeks then and they should deffo be able to see. I know what you mean about just knowing. From the start I’ve been saying he and picturing a boy but the MIL spoke to a medium who said girl and now I’m just desperate to know for sure 😂
