Oh FFS I seem to have bought five table runners...any ideas of what can I do with them?

Since I don't have five tables. I was looking for a runner for the dining table, saw a few cheap ones on ebay so placed some low bids. A few days later I was on ebay again (but on DH's account, not mine) so forgot I'd already placed some bids as they didn't show up, so bought another one. I've now had notifications that I won all of them!

Any clever ideas what I can do with them, other than drape them over every available surface? They're all very pretty, I just don't need five of them and feel a bit of a tit that I've wasted the money Blush

What material are they? You could make pretty cotton handkerchiefs? Or pretty napkins?

Make matching masks?

Birthday presents?

Or one on the table, one in the washing machine, one drying, one in the ironing basket, one in the airing cupboard.

Ooh napkins is a good idea. They're all cotton or linen in various colours. Can I do it without a sewing machine?

I like the topical idea of masks Grin

And Abbccc you probably have a point about having them on rotation in the laundry. I usually whip the table runner off the table when we eat so it doesn't get messed up by the kids - maybe I should actually use it for it's purpose and let it near food Shock

What is the purpose of a table runner? I thought it was decorative? Or is it for putting hot plates on? I’d never considered this before!

Well in my dining room it's for looking pretty with a tray in the centre of it containing some smelly candles, a fruit bowl and a vase of flowers. Hence why it gets whipped off when we're eating. But actually they were supposed to be for protecting the centre of the table where serving dishes and condiments, etc are placed. But the thought of gravy being slurped across my pretty linen runner brings me out in hives Blush

For looking pretty!

I’d just sell them on using Facebook marketplace or similar

IncyWincyGrownUp · 10/06/2020 23:06

I’d repurpose the fabric if they were cheap. I’m not a napkin person, but if you are that’s one easy enough idea for hand sewing.

Put them back on EBay !
