Do you keep a diary/journal?

I'm feeling very reflective today. Its left me feeling quite sad and in the absence of anyone that I feel comfortable talking to, I am considering a diary. I am 35, am I too old for acting like an angsty teenager? Grin Do any of you keep a diary and do you put your deepest thoughts and feelings in it?

I keep a journal, I don’t write in it daily but it does contain my utterly unfiltered thoughts and feelings. It doesn’t feel angsty to be honest, it allows me space to sort out how I really feel about stuff and I’ll often go back and see how much has changed or indeed what looks like a repeating pattern. Buy a beautiful notebook, and get writing.

I've done it for years yes. I fund it therapeutic and yes you can work things out in it.

My various journals over the years have now documented my life since my early 20s when I started my healing from child abuse journey and now they are less self help, more general goings on and a record for my life and thoughts.

I intend to enjoy them when I'm an old lady on rainy afternoons. There are even photos and gig tickets stuck in them AND when desperate emails I've sent to myself where I've just garbled everything down.

They are really helpful and private.

I thoroughly recommend xxx

Oh yes, it needs to be absolutely private - I like writing things out by hand, I’ve got a good friend who will destroy them if anything happens to me 😁

I keep a diary but I only put things that have happened that day -anything more personal is in code!
I started in 1986 and I love going back and reminding myself of things, particularly as I started just before DH and I started going out so it's pretty much the story of our whole time together.
It's also very useful in settling arguments of which year we did what or when we went to certain places etc

I've been keeping a diary since lockdown started, using a nice notebook I was given as a present.

I don't write my deepest thoughts though - imagine somebody found it!

I have a notebook that I write in from time to time. Not every day.

I find its a lot of doom and gloom in there, but that's only because I have a tendency to write things down when I'm feeling angry or upset about something. If I've not written for a while then life has been going good.

It's handwritten and all my thoughts and feelings at the time go into it. No-one knows about it though.
