Pins and needles in hands final stages of pregnancy

Hello,

I'm 39 weeks pregnant and in the past week I've been getting really bad pins and needles in my hands especially my finger tips, and a numb feeling. Is this normal and does any one know how to get rid of it?

I'd be worried about pre eclampsia. Contact your midwife, today.

I had this with both my pregnancies. It was diagnosed as carpal tunnel syndrome and I was told it is very common in late pregnancy - extra fluid/swelling compresses the nerves involved, hence the tingling.

But please get checked over as it could be a few things, including pre eclampsia (which I also had with DS1).

It may be worth eliminating that it’s not simply your bra straps digging in your shoulders.

CArpal tunnel syndrome. I used to wake up multiple times in the night and have to dangle my hands over the side of the bed.

99% of the time it’s gone within 6 weeks of giving birth.
