Help me feel better- What have you missed at work?

I feel like a complete fool. My manager set up an online supervision and I completely missed the email. I realised part way though. The whole thing was fine. I told him at the end and he just said email or call if I think of anything.

I feel like an idiot, like I want to cry My mind is blowing this up out of all proportion. I know that but it isn’t stopping it. I have no DC, no extra pressures, no excuse

Has anyone else done anything like this during lockdown or before? Make me feel better or at least in company!

Loads. No longer care very much.

Hillocrew · 09/06/2020 22:57

Ah OP post in AIBU and you'll get more response in future, more traffic there.

I do call centre work and keep missing calls at home! So I feel bad customers are not getting through and also wonder how long before I get my knuckles rapped!

Hillocrew · 09/06/2020 22:58

Also feeling shitty tonight OP, the kinda shitty where you want to sleep and not bloody wake up ever Blush

Lockdownlooks · 09/06/2020 23:06

Hillocrew sorry things are bad. Hope you get some sleep and feel brighter tomorrow.

I’m reluctant to post in Aibu if a bit low/more serious. It may get more traffic but it is often shaper edged responses.

Lockdownlooks · 09/06/2020 23:32

Though they can be charmed sometimes.

My lovely colleague was looking to reserve a meeting room at X location. Except the online booking tool was down. So he emailed the front desk at that site and asked for assistance.

What actually happened: he emailed the distribution list for everyone deployed to that site. That's some 5k people.

Then some of the more bored ones started "reply all"-ing.

The whole debacle resulted in lots of getting some 900 emails within the span of two hours. In the end, IT had to kill the distribution list to make it stop.

Poor colleague was utterly mortified. The rest of us had a bloody good laugh.

We still tease him about maybe asking someone else to help out if he ever needs a meeting room again.

Oh, also, he still has the job. Nothing happened. They switched the DL back on after two days.

Hillocrew · 10/06/2020 08:56

@BrexpatInSwitzerland that's happened in my work a few times. The reply all goes mad lol. It's annoying but very funny too.

@DaphneFanshaw yes heres to today being a good day where we can laugh at any mistakes we make!

OP I hope you've let the worry go.

I have to do online supervision for my team at the moment, and some forget, it's honestly not a big deal. The normally get a text from me asking them if they are ignoring me deliberately Smile or just busy and then I set it up at another time.

Don't even let this worry you for a minute, it's just one of those things.

OP, missing a meeting, being late or overlooking the point of a meeting is a daily occurrence!! Not all me you understand though!

Only last week I did a workout in the garage and then settled down to watch The Real Hoosewives of Beverly Hills with a sandwich and I got a text from my boss asking me 'are you joining this call?' I'd misread my calendar and was 20 minutes late to a client call I had set up. I joined it red faced and sweaty and rather embarrassed but I can't say it's crossed my mind since.
