Encouraging an interest in animals

My lovely five year old daughter has in recent weeks developed a real interest in animals. Wants to look at “real” pictures. Asks a million questions (many of which I can’t answer - eg “where do flies go at night? But where do they sleep?” - I didn’t know what I didn’t know!) Says she wants to be a vet.

I’m keen to encourage this. I was thinking maybe junior national geographic subscription or similar. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. are there any good animal/wildlife documentaries aimed at young kids?

Yes - National Geographic Kids is good with lots of facts. Mine also like Deadly 60 on CBBC.

There's a cool YouTube channel that my kids enjoy complexly.com/shows/animal-wonders. It's American so lots of the animals will be different to what she might see here.

Where DO flies go at night?! 🤔

Ok I have just ordered a National Geographic Kids subscription. I will definitely look at the YouTube channel as well. She keeps watching Australia Zoo on YouTube kids. Is that Bindi Irwin?

Google tells me the following:

Flies mostly sleep during night time however sometimes they also take short naps during day time. Generally, flies do not search for sleeping areas that are predator free, but instead they just sleep anywhere. Flies can be found sleeping on floor, walls, curtains, plant leaves etc

One fucker was on the pull cord of the shaving light in our bathroom the other night. As I discovered just before my 2.30am wee.

If you have disney+ there are some nice animal documentaries on there. We recently watched ones on drizzly bears, snow leopards and some form of monkey.

Oh I do and I see there is a dolphin one! She loves dolphins I’m going to try her with that tomorrow
