Nut allergy - sensitivity?

I love Snickers (though secretly wish they were still Marathons), but have them very rarely.

I tend to only eat chocolate at night, as a treat with a cuppa before bed. The last two times I've done this, I've woken, about an hour after bed, with a really severe asthma attack (I have quite bad asthma, on four different inhalers - including super-strength steroid one and Montelukast, but generally quite well controlled on this, unless I get a cold/virus, etc.

I literally have to take lots of puffs of Ventolin and Atrovent, in order to breathe, cough continually and have a tight chest. It goes on for a while, and I very nearly phoned 999 last time.

I do have allergies, I have nasal polyps and get bad rhinitis, and do get wheezy if I have lemon/citrus fruit, or anything with sulfites in, but it's never like this.

I'm guessing that it's impossible to be an allergy to Snickers, but I'm too scared to eat them at night, in case of asthma again, but surely an allergy has to happen immediately right?

Why would it be impossible to have an allergy to snickers? They have peanuts in them.
As you already have allergies it sounds like you’ve developed a peanut allergy and if I were you I would be avoiding them.
Do you have an epipen? If not, get yourself to your GP and request one, along with a referral for allergy testing.

I am a nut allergy sufferer, peanuts and tree nuts.

Just realised you’re saying that as the reaction wasn’t immediate then it can’t be the Snickers.
I have had reactions a few times a good hour after eating something, although mostly my reaction is instant.

@Twospaniels Yes, exactly! I guess it's not that, but I'll have to try eating one in the day to check. Thank you
