Hi everyone, I'm applying for jobs, most are asking for a cover note/letter along with a CV. I have a CV all good to go, I just don't know what to put on a cover note, Back in the day, I would just put availability and how soon I can start the position, Is this still the case? All other info is on my CV so I would just be repeating myself. Any tips please? Oh, also, How easy is it to do a generic cover note as I will be applying for different roles i.e Retail work. Reception work, Maybe even catering, so pretty broad. TIA

Some tips here

If you google covering letter format it will bring you up examples of letters. Good luck

a CV is about you and your history. a cover note is a piece of descriptive writing about why this job is a particularly good fit for you as an individual.

if the job you are applying for has a detailed job description and person specification then your cover note should be a point by point description of how you tick the box for every item in those documents - don't make them do the work of matching up their criteria to the info on your cv, lay it out for them.

if the jd/ps is sketchy or nonexistent then the cover note cane less detailed but should give a convincing argument as to why you are the best possible candidate and why this is your dream job.
