Did you know this about malaria?

That a million kids a year die from this?! So I saw this fact a couple of weeks ago. www.unicef.org/media/files/MALARIAFACTSHEETAFRICA.pdf I’m sure I must have heard this stat before but for some reason never taken it on board, maybe as it’s so overwhelming. Covid deaths have hit 400,000 worldwide which is horrific yet more than double this number die EACH YEAR from malaria and most of them are tiny children. I just can’t stop thinking about it, how do we have this going on in our world but there is so little attention paid (and I count myself in that). Im not sure what I’m looking for here I just suddenly opened my eyes to the fact that 3000 children a day die from this. Can’t get my head round it. Perhaps if anyone knows any good charities doing research I could support?

Bill Gates is the biggest funder of Malaria research

Bill Gates has set up a foundation to eradicate malaria in our lifetime and donates much of his wealth to it. So currently, although it kills many people each year, the research is well funded and it will be possible to end this disease.

I know that doesn’t answer your question about charities, but perhaps donating to Save the Children instead will mean money gets to those currently living with malaria

I think a lot of attention is paid to it actually. Especially by the Gates Foundation, but also Comic Relief have drawn attention to it and funded projects, as well as many others. There’s a list of research/projects here and WHO report re aiming for eradication here
