We have never zoomed. It is possible to ring for a phone appt with GP, I write notes to mine (before this) which they respond to, by phone.

BlackberryViolet · 09/06/2020 09:45

Sorry that’s one new case round here, and still dementors aren’t happy - “one case means we still aren’t safe”. I dare not even look to see what they think of the school announcement this morning Sad

Bollss · 09/06/2020 09:45

@Teateaandmoretea

I just think that the idea that 70 year olds would isolate themselves for an illness that only affected under 10s is fantasy
Exactly! They wouldn't! Nor would any adult unless they had a child at home!

All sorts of horrible childhood viruses and disease rips through schools every year.

Can't remember which poster (perhaps domina?) Said their DD was hospitalised with Scarlett fever.

What prevention for that was their in our nursery I hear you say?

A note on the door telling us to keep an eye out because it was going round!

MagdaS · 09/06/2020 09:47

I would be happy to never participate in a Zoom or Teams call again. My eyes are really starting to suffer from staring at a screen for all of my waking hours.

NowImLivinInExeter · 09/06/2020 09:47

Does anyone have any retorts for when dementory types say "well the whole world is doing it so it can't be the wrong thing" WRT lockdown?

NowImLivinInExeter · 09/06/2020 09:48

Can I reccommend some blue light glasses - these have been a godsend for me (I've always worked from home). I thought they were a gimmick but they really do work.

Nihiloxica · 09/06/2020 09:50
@Nihiloxica hugs for you as well. The spiralling feeling is horrible. I have had anxiety issues before, back on the medication which is dealing with the edges of it. Keep talking.
Thank you Smile

Did your mum never say to you "if so and so put their face in the fire would you do that as well?" Grin

That was polio, and no they didn't and weren't expected to.

Well (most of) the countries who've been in it are now coming out of it, so surely that can't be the wrong thing either? We've had one of the longest lockdowns in the world at this point...
BarkandCheese · 09/06/2020 10:01

France have said even if there’s a second wave they won’t do a full lockdown again.

The very suggestion would be outrageous ageism!
Pertella · 09/06/2020 10:02

I caught the tail end of a news report about child carers last night, and how the scant support they were getting had been pulled.

Putting aside the travesty of expecting children to care for sick parents in the first place, its absolutely disgraceful that they were just left to deal with this situation on their own.

Bollss · 09/06/2020 10:03

Ha that's excellent! Really made me smile.

That was me. Half the class had it, and a teacher. My DD passed it to my mum.
They didn’t even deep clean the place, let alone close.

Ah sorry driving! Ridiculous isn't it!

Ds has caught all sorts from nursery but what can you do!

Nihiloxica · 09/06/2020 10:10

Ds has caught all sorts from nursery but what can you do!

You can build up immunity.

Which we are not doing by isolating at home for months.

This is risky behaviour from an immunity perspective.

Allflightscancelled · 09/06/2020 10:11

France have said even if there’s a second wave they won’t do a full lockdown again.

I saw this too. And of course they couldn't, how would it be possible? I think there would be serious civil unrest, like there was in Turkey a couple of weeks ago when they government wanted to introduce a weekend curfew in response to a little blip in cases. The government had to change their minds, pronto.

Personally, once we are out of this, I'm never going back in. I don't mean to be melodramatic but I honestly think I'd rather just cease to exist. And I'm lucky to be able to say that's not something I've ever felt before.

Yes true. Admittedly he caught pretty much everything going in the first 18 months or so and then after that has been mostly fine!

Me too. I said the same to dp and he was visibly shocked but this isn't living.

DrearyWallAntler · 09/06/2020 10:16

I still maintain the government is letting the teaching unions throw the profession under a bus here.

Mascotte · 09/06/2020 10:16

It's also the case that children are going to be fat and unfit because of the lockdown which is much more dangerous for them.

Mascotte · 09/06/2020 10:16

And, in my case, not just children.. 😳😃

Orangeblossom78 · 09/06/2020 10:17

I use this thing to stop the blue light called f.lux

LivinLaVidaLoki · 09/06/2020 10:18

Have now been notified that I will have to work from home indefinitely as I have asthma. My asthma is well managed and triggered by allergies. There seems to be no flexibility regarding the severity or type of asthma, just "you have asthma you've to stay at home"

On the other hand, being so isolated from everyone is having a hugely detrimental effect on my mental health, but that doesn't matter because you know, Covid.
