Has anyone successfully overcome an escalator phobia?

I’m desperate for help as it is affecting my life. Especially with how some places are asking people to move around buildings at the moment. I usually just avoid them, but when I really make an effort to use them it doesn’t get any easier. It’s not as if you can practice! I know the theory is to just keep doing something till your Brian gets bored but I’ve had this since I was a child and it doesn’t seem to be working.Neither did hypnosis. Can anyone please tell me of how to beat this?

@latedecember1963 I will try too ..let me know how you get on
( literally!)

I’ve got to remember the stats are in my favour and yes people do fall, but not everybody every time.

TheNightSky my mum suggested practicing them. But there's only one in about an hours radius of where I. So can't really.

Just a thought, have you had your ears checked? You say you struggle with stairs too, it may be virtigo?

Never been afraid of escalators til June. I always so tired after work that almost missed step trying to step on. Since as soon as I get in front of a escalator my legs buckle and won't move. However, I have tried a narrow escalator that's slower near work and that one I got the courage to do. The wider ones that go a little faster I'm scared and my legs freeze. I can leave work saying I'm gonna take it to go down and as soon as I reach the escalator my legs freeze. I can go up just fine, but down is different and I've done it for years before June.
