Help me clean my washing machine

Washing machine this week stinks of dampness. Like it hits you in the face as soon as you open the door.

So far I have cleaned the drum, the rubber seal around the door, water jets, drawer, done a detol wash at 90 degrees.

It still stinks.
Today I am going to do the bicarbonate soda & vinegar wash.

Any other suggestions or is it done? To be fair I've had it for 8 years so it's done its job well, just not ideal timing for a new one if it can be saved!

Small bit of bleach in drum and small bit in the drawer. Hot wash. Mine has been fine since doing this. Don't put too much in though as it'll foam up loads. I then did a load of towels a day later to make sure all the bleach was gone before washing clothes.

These helped our machine. Run a hot wash with a cup of these every month or so now. Did it 3 or 4 times to start and improved no end Smile

Sling half a bag of Epsom salts straight into the drum with a few old towels to balance the machine. Put it on a hot wash. This is also good for when there's an outbreak of active staphylococcus in the house. It sterilises the machine.

I use soda crystals too.

PlanDeRaccordement · 07/06/2020 10:40

That is caused by closing the washer door when not washing. You have to let it air dry every time you are done using it.

Soda Crystal's
Powder detergent not liquid - the liquid causes black slime build up
Also get into all the water sprinkle holes in the drawer area (above the drawer) with a toothbrush

When mine was stinking, I chucked a dishwasher tablet in and ran a hot wash. I had to do this twice, there was loads of grey sludge coming into the drum.

I know use washing liquid instead of liqutabs and leave the door and drawer open between uses.

Soda crystals and vinegar here. Not sure about frequency, when I smell a whiff I guess. Also, always leave the door slightly ajar.

Leave the door and the dispenser drawer open after you’ve used it and do a very hot service wash monthly. Use powder, not liquid or capsules both of which cause build up of slime, bacteria and odours.
Wipe the door seal with diluted bleach once a week. All of these will help.

I’m doing bleach hot wash no clothes every fortnight night also stopped putting stuff in the drawer all in the drum now.

Thanks everyone. It burst all over the floor this morning so there obviously was some sort of issue with it!
Will make sure I always leave the door open on the new one! Blush
