Where would you live?

I've always loved the idea of living more rurally, having a view of rolling fields and space from my house, or the sea. I've always wanted that for my children as well so they can run wild. I am so fortunate to live in a nice town, in a nice house so it's more a pipedream. I'm also aware that rural living can come with problems as the kids grow older and want more independence etc.

So where would you recommend that balances growing children and my desire for that more relaxed space.

Going to watch this thread with interest Lovingmylife as I want to do the same one day. Currently living in London.

I don’t know where I would go but I am currently daydreaming about the South Downs. I also want a view - preferably a hilly one Smile - and/or of the sea.

We live in a large village a few miles outside of a city with another largish town nearby. We have fields and some woodlands on our doorstep but our house with large garden doesn't have a particularly nice view. Sometimes, I would love to shake it up for a change but wouldn't go more rural for the sake of my dcs. If I could pick anywhere, I'd probably move nearer the sea but be semi-accessible to a city, not sure such a place exists.

We’ve found small cathedral cities work well for us - plenty of history and architecture, always a good range of shops, and countryside on the doorstep. Enough facilities for teens to keep themselves busy and out of trouble.

By the sea and the only one I can think of that is diverse enough would be Brighton. It's on my lottery win shopping list.
