Ethical/ second hand diamond and sapphire ring?

I recently lost 8 stone and I want to get a diamond and sapphire ring to celebrate. I don't really want high street as the diamonds aren't ethical. My budget is up to 3k but tbh I'd be happy to go second hand. I just don't know where to start. Do I go to the Jewellery quarter and get one made?

Maybe try the lanes in Brighton if you are anywhere close

Massive congratulations!!

Well done. I'd go for second-hand if you can you'll get more for your money. Take your time and visit lots of independents for the best choice.

Could you buy a second hand ring and perhaps have it reset? Congratulations Flowers

My wedding ring is diamond and saphire 1920s and very unusual. I got it on ebay then had it reset and had a new band. It really depends on what you want, you don't have to have something specially made for it to be unique.

You could have a look at auction houses.

The jewellers in our high street has a second hand section and I love some of the rings in there and they’re so reasonable!

Try this place and here’s one they have on budget to get you started! arullmann.com/product/sapphire-diamond-daisy-cluster-ring-3/

And congrats on the weight loss!

Ring shopping is one of my favourite pass times. If you are near Brum and can get to the Jewellery Quarter when things open again I would. I browse eBay for jewels. I also love www.segalsjewellers.co.uk/ when I visit Hull. They have a huge range of second hand rings and other stuff. I've just found a ring I love on there, trying hard not to buy it..

prices in auction houses can be incredibly cheap, I suppose it's where the trade buyers stock up on "antique" and second hand jewellery.

There is a very big markup on jewellery, as you will know if you have ever tried to sell any.

You do need to examine the pieces carefully as the stones may have inclusions that damage the value.

The trade price of new production diamonds dropped by about 20% in the last year.

look about half-way down this article to get an idea of what producers get paid per carat

Wow that's amazing! No idea, sorry, but glad you want to shop ethically.
