I'm in so much pain! I can't exercise, it's painful to even walk at the moment. I have socks, splints, insoles, I'm doing stretches and nothing is shifting it.
Soery, but of a pity post, but fed up Sad

Yes, it's awful. I had it in both feet a couple of years ago. Mine is completely better now so there is hope but it can take a long time.

DoAsYouWouldBeMumBy · 06/06/2020 15:40

I had it for a while and it was AWFUL - I really do pity you ThanksThanks

I lost a LOT of fitness and muscle as a result, took me ages to get back to normal. Hope you can keep fit in some way until it goes SadSad

abstractzebra · 06/06/2020 15:42

You have all my sympathy!
I've got Achilles tendinitis which I believe developed from plantar fasciitis even though I don't remember having for long!
Sometimes it feels like an egg has popped up on the back of my leg and I'm forever obsessed with shoes.
I'm overweight and menopausal so losing weight is so blooming difficult but I'm really focused at the moment. I miss carbs ☹️
Some days I feel like it has gone and then in the night I'll suddenly wake up in agony!

Thank you all. From what I've read, it seems to stick around for a bit, so I know I'm in for a rough ride.
Just depressing that I can't exercise properly, it's been a real mental health boost during lockdown..

You need to keep stretching. Mine has gone mostly but recently I’m getting same same pain but in my heels.

stellabelle · 06/06/2020 17:03

Keep a couple of soft drink bottles filled with water in the freezer. When you wake in the morning, take one bottle out and roll your foot over it. That can help a lot - do it as often as you need, but first thing in the morning is a great start . Get Scholl Orthaheel insoles or even better, get some of their shoes and always wear them. NEVER walk a step without the shoes on - every step you take barefoot will make the fasciitis worse. Good luck !

PinkDiamond1 · 06/06/2020 17:03

Keep stretching! Have you a foam roller? Foam roll your calves and thighs - it's tight muscles all over - and bad shoes

But randomly I cut out gluten and that made it better!

Fandoozle1 · 06/06/2020 17:05

I had acupuncture to help with mine, and I found wearing a low wedge heel with a hard surface helped for some reason (found a great pair in spain and cannot get the same sort anywhere here). But it can take time to see it off, it's an awful condition. I had a very painful year of it. I'm fine now but I'm paranoid it will come back.

Merigoround · 06/06/2020 17:10

Sore feet is a bitch arent they?
I have a variety of foot related ailments that are probably related to the ridiculous shoes I wore as a teenager and didnt care about warnings.

I have a mortons neuroma just now that is plaguing me . I have a shelf full of insoles and inserts ,support bandages and freeze sprays. They all help a little but nothing lasts.
However I tried Kinesiology tape as a last resort and am suprised that it seems to have worked. It is also recommended for plantar fasciitis although you may need to experiment with the taping.
I got mine from Amazon. Its cheap enough to buy for a trial run and the tape stays put for several days at a time even after showering.

Sketchers have changed my life with this

BrightonBB · 06/06/2020 17:36

Before you even get out of bed, lying on your back stretch your heels away from you and toes towards you. Do it for a few mins. PF is horrible.

Cally70 · 06/06/2020 17:40

I had it for 3 years. It was 80% ruptured in one foot. It was just awful. Never known pain like it. So debilitating.

Eventually, the only thing that 'cured' it for me was several sessions of intensive shockwave therapy.

I still have to be very careful what I wear on my feet, and wear my custom made orthotics there majority of the time.

Keep up the stretching & icing, and don't go barefoot.

Hope yours goes soon.

picklemewalnuts · 06/06/2020 17:41

Best thing for me was to have a pair of supportive shoes next to the bed- quite a narrow fitting pair. As soon as I swung my feet out of bed they went into the shoes, even for a middle of the night loo trip. It seemed to support my feet, hold them together tightly, until they stopped feeling so angry and irritated.

MortyFide · 06/06/2020 17:41

Just to add to your misery, I developed plantar fasciitis in my right foot 5 years ago. After years of treatments and therapies - you name it, I've done it, often for protracted periods of time - I finally had an operation to lengthen/release the extremely tight calf muscle which was preventing the damaged fascia from healing last January.

It didn't work, I have about 80% of the same pain 6 months later. The only options left are shock wave therapy (minimally invasive) or surgery on the fascia itself.

I have multiple pairs of skechers and saucony walking shoes, and whilst they certainly ease the pain whilst wearing them, I still have to hop to the bog at night because I can't put my foot to the floor.

Wotrewelookinat · 06/06/2020 19:34

Sympathy from me too. Mine started 4 years ago and has only just got to the point where i can walk barefoot in the house again for a few minutes. Have you tried foam rolling your calf muscles? It’ll be painful but will help. I’m pretty sure the main reason it’s abating now is that I’ve lost weight.

HRHPP · 06/06/2020 19:39

It is really awful and I had it for a long time .
I lost weight and it disappeared.

Popskipiekin · 06/06/2020 19:41

There’s a lady on YouTube who does masses of workouts for people with broken ankles, hurt foot etc m.youtube.com/watch?v=J9vE02q5ES0 hope this or something like it can keep you exercising whilst you heal

HerLadySheep · 06/06/2020 19:42

God it's awful!! My DH spent many an evening massaging my feet, it felt as though I had popping candy in my heels, you could hear it cracking as he rubbed but massage helped enormously. That and rolling my heels on golf balls.
I used to be so scared to get out of bed, that first footstep is like a dagger through the foot.
I hope it improves quickly.

Thorilicious · 06/06/2020 19:43

@WelcomeToTheNorth I've just bought some sketchers!
I've got a calf stretcher that I use when ever I get up to grab something, and I'm foam rolling as well.
My twin has had it severely, I can appreciate how much pain she has been in!

Fairybatman · 06/06/2020 19:56

I had it 12 years. Came on suddenly after a
10k one day.

Tried everything (and I honestly do mean every treatment you can think of) and what finally sorted t was PRP injections in December last year.

bluerad · 06/06/2020 20:00

You have my sympathy, it's so painful. What worked for me was using a golf ball to roll my foot over every night and a very expensive pair of orthotics. Had them made specially but worth every penny as I'd spent a fortune on generic ones from Boots etc.

Thorilicious · 06/06/2020 20:02

@Popskipiekin thank you so much for that link. I can't tell you how happy I am that I can do a work out tomorrow!
@Fairybatman mine came on after a 5k run early on in lockdown. I've done half's and a full marathon and have been fine, then bam, just out of the blue, it started.

DominaShantotto · 06/06/2020 20:15

I get it flaring up periodically every year - usually as karma for me spending time in flip flops - a lesson which I never learn. Insoles are about the only thing which I've found that helps me.

LuvMyBoyz · 06/06/2020 20:21

It can take up to 2 years to go. Mine went within 2 months. I changed all my old shoes to supportive ones and did the stretches rigorously. Bloody nightmare! Hope you get rid of it soon.

sandycloud · 06/06/2020 20:22

I had it a few years ago. We had a ski holiday booked and I thought there's no way I'll be able to ski as it hurt just standing. Anyway it turned out to be the best thing. I wore ski boots all week which keep your ankle fixed in position. My plantar fasciitis was completely cured. If I get it again I'm wearing ski boots. I don't care how uncomfortable they are!!!
