How does your stomach feel a year or so after c-section?

Mine feels like I have a shelf now under my ribs, like my abdomen starts from there now. I'm worried that's not normal. I have the pouch etc but it's the way it feels at the top that makes me feel...strange. Would love to hear what others have experienced!

I don’t have anything different to what was before. Except for some numbness around the scar.

Have you checked for diastasis recti? How’s your pelvic floor?

TenLun89 · 05/06/2020 20:07

I have the pouch, I'm 8 months on, currently pregnant again and dreading my stomach

LunanMoon · 05/06/2020 20:10

Pelvic floor is fine, I've had a look for recti and there's a bit of separation but it's not that bad. Occasionally, if I lean over something high like the cot, I get a sharp pain under my left rib. It was an emergency section Shock

I'm 10 months on have a pouch which I think will be with me for life and still have numbness.
I don't get any sharp pains either but do feel the odd twitch if I move the wrong way or have done too much exercise etc.

I dont understand what upu mean when you say it feels like it starts under your ribs?

Mine was back to normal after a few months.was just slightly numb around the scar but that settled down mostly after about six months and reduced to a tiny area.

Bubbinsmakesthree · 05/06/2020 20:44

Still had a little numbness and faintly visible scar but otherwise exactly the same as I was beforehand

LunanMoon · 05/06/2020 20:50

@glamgiraffe

I'm not really sure what I mean, I guess just that my muscles feel looser and so the fat is weirdly distributed and maybe I just never poked around under my rib cage before! It just doesn't feel quite the same. It's like if it used to be more concave under there before it's now more like when you're pregnant and your belly starts from up high.

Mine was back to how it was before (not completely flat though!)

Wacadu · 05/06/2020 20:53

I have a fair bit of numbness almost 18 years on but it doesn't bother me.

I also have the pouch, which does.

Heatherjayne1972 · 05/06/2020 21:58

Still numb 10 years on
Bit of a pouch but not too awful

LunanMoon · 06/06/2020 09:03

Does anybody feel like their muscles ache, especially the top abdominal muscles?
