Dunham Massey, Quarry Bank or Lyme?

I'm thinking of booking a trip out to a NT property next week, and the three in the title are the ones open closest to me. I've never been to any of them. Which would you recommend?

It'll be me and DH and Ddog. We're just wanting to stretch our legs in a different location to our usual dog walking loop!

Isnt it only the gardens that are open? Dunham is always very busy. Lyme I'd say. Nicest gardens IMO.

You must live near me - hello!
Quarry Bank has beautiful gardens but I'm pretty sure you can't take the dog in the gardens bit. Lots of woodland around which is dog friendly though.
Dunham gorgeous and more 'open' than QB. But dog needs to be kept on lead due to Deer.
Lyme would be my choice with a dog and no kids - vast open spaces and views to die for.

Should say that you can't take dogs in the gardens at Dunham or Lyme either, but both have vast parkland which is dog friendly.

Lyme it is then! Thanks everyone.

@NotPennysBoat we haven't been up here long before lockdown, so just starting to explore the area. I'm enjoying it so far though!

@emsyj37 some of the gardens are, but it's mainly only the grounds. Which works for us, we just fancy a different dog walk so are only really using the car park and footpaths across the parkland

I wouldn't do Quarry Bank for a dogwalk, but you should visit once the buildings reopen. It's one of my favourite places.

NotPennysBoat · 05/06/2020 20:06

@Shurl did you manage to get tickets?

GenderApostate19 · 05/06/2020 20:24

Wasn’t Lyme park wrecked by flooding last year?

Shurl · 06/06/2020 18:47

@NotPennysBoat I did, thanks. Was still up at midnight, so just logged on and got some then!

You live near me too. It was Quarry Bank that was flooded. I'd do Lyme since it has lovely walks. You can park between Quarry Bank and the Carrs and walk all the way along the river - through Styal and the woods. Think you have to have leads on a Quarry Bank too.

I'm near all three and love them all for different reasons, but Lyme is the best bet for a walk with a dog .

Anybody been to any since they've reopened? How was it?
