Hobbies to do at home as a couple

Looking for inspiration! DH and I have been together for over 20 years and during that time have developed different interests/hobbies. We were talking last night and agreed that we would like to find an activity/hobby that we could do together.

We have two DC (6 and 8) and obviously still very restricted with where we can go and what we can do, so ideally something we can do at home.

Current interests:

DH: cryptic crosswords, chess, logic problems, long discussions about philosophical questions etc (Him: "Blah, blah, so what do you think about that?" Me: "I don't know" - I am not one of life's great thinkers, poor DH!)

Me: painting, reading, photography

We already watch TV together but beyond that I've drawn a blank.

We’ve started doing puzzles together during lockdown. Very relaxing and satisfying!

Board games would be good.

Jaipur, Patchwork, Ticket to Ride (check the version), Lost Cities are all good 2 player games.

Yeah we’ve started getting a paper and doing the puzzles together.
We also quite like watching feeding the birds in the garden.

Oh my god. I sound 70.

we have a sort of wildlife Toptrumps going on

Me:I saw three blue tits and a green finch this morning
DH: I saw a deer and two squirrels on the way to work.

and so on ..... :o

I was gazing out the window hoping to spot the whale that has been doing the rounds recently....that'd shut him up.

Maybe gardening? And DIY? Partner and I painted the garden fence together, was lovely. Next we're going renovate the spare room.

We sometimes sit together and do our own separate crafts but together

The things we both do together has been clay modelling, gardening, online board games with friends, card games etc

WoollyMammouth · 04/06/2020 08:32

We do yoga in the evening when the DC are in bed. Off YouTube. It may not be a hobby I guess, but it’s a nice thing to do together and it’s really clears my head.

spikyplants · 04/06/2020 08:42

We're looking into doing some Raspberry Pi projects together - not sure what yet. I quite fancy making a robot Grin

Helmlover1 · 04/06/2020 10:13

Mainly cooking/baking, gardening, watching tv, sometimes board games.

Martysmarvellousmeals · 04/06/2020 10:23

Now I am not in the least competitive, but me and DH play a couple of board games and I become very competitive and I love it.

Over the lockdown we have played outside in the sun and its been great. Have a look at Rummikub and Sequence.

Gardening and growing 'stuff'......
