Stinky chick peas

A tin of them has burst in the kitchen cupboard overnight. The tin must have been damaged. All over the cupboard and run down the counter onto the microwave and onto the floor. The STENCH !!!🤢🤢🤢. How's your morning?

🤮 didn't realise chickpeas would stink.

Are they rotten inside the tin ?

I had that once with a tin of grapefruit.
Coffee, lots of coffee. stick your nose in it
Then begin the clean-up operation.

Wow! In my 40s and never heard of this happening. I guess tin was damaged and some air got in causing them to ferment. Thus explosion?
I have this odd fear that the whole kitchen cupboard might just fall off the wall in the night. Now that’s a mess I don’t want to clean up!!

Yes, I think fermented. The liquid is kind of bubbly. I'm not intending a detailed investigation just going to get rid and clean up. Hiding upstairs putting it off at the moment
