Talk to me about smart watches please!

It's my birthday soon and I've decided I'd like a smart watch. I have an iphone so naturally the go to watch would be an apple watch. But they're so damn expensive I'd prefer to look at other options first! I've seen this Fossil watch which looks really nice, does anyone know anything about Fossil?
I'd like it to do the usual time/date, weather would be handy, fitness tracker etc.

Any other recommendations please?

I love my Fossil smart watch but I have an Android phone. I don't think they sync as well with iPhones.

I’ve got an Apple Watch series 3 and don’t need to charge it every night. Plenty of notifications, odd phone call, workout tracking - I can get two days out of it, three if I’m conservative.

I get two days battery out of my Apple Watch as well, and it’s 17 months old (series 3). I love it the rings, and have filled them 526 days running (since the day after I got it). It’s definitely motivated me to do more.

That's better than I'd heard re battery. How long does it take to charge please?

I've been doing all the research myself. The leaders in most top 10s seem to be the Apples and the Samsungs. Fossil usually just after those. It seems if you have Apple stuff you need an Apple watch. Samsung have their own operating system which means not a big range of 3rd party developers making apps for them. I'm being drawn towards Fossils myself.
