Periods & Pill Struggle

Sparkles512 · 02/06/2020 20:15

Hi, I have had a non stop period since August 2018.
Dr's have sent me for a scan and blood test but can't find anything wrong.
I am taking the cerelle pill and I've been on various pills/injection for about 12 years now.
We are hoping to try for a baby next year so ideally would like to stay on the pill until the end of the year.
I am feeling down and lethargic and don't know what else I can do to stop the bleeding.
Can anyone give any advice please?
Thank you xx

I have been bleeding for a long time too, diagnosed with cervical erosion, ovarian cysts and waiting on lockdown finishing for further investigation. Although I have other symptoms apart from constantly bleeding.

Feel bad for you, OP. It's not easy.

Take a vitamin supplement to help you keep healthy. Eat well and rest too.

Do you have children already? Are you heading for menopause age?

Is it possible for you to come off the pill now to see what happens? Use other contraception until you are ready to TTC.

Also, I know some people have lots of breakthrough bleeding on progesterone only pills (the mini pill). Not sure if that applies to your pill though.

Keep pressing for appointments if needed. Make sure your smears are up to date!!! Can't emphasize that enough!

Are you bleeding despite being on Cerelle?

Sparkles512 · 02/06/2020 20:53

I'm sorry to hear this 😞
I have had a scan and they said I haven't got any cysts or anything abnormal.
I am 25 and we have no children.
I'm still bleeding on the progesterone only pill cerelle but it's not even spotting it's a full on period I get pains and cramps and mood swings etc every single day 😞

I am not a doctor, but I am thinking that you are similar to me and just don't agree with progesterone only pills. I'm 10 years older than you, and any progesterone only pills I ever tried, and also the implant which is same hormone just made me bleed bleed bleed.

I've been off the pill altogether for about 5 years now and still bleeding. So that is my problem!

Have a serious chat with your DP about TTC sooner, or better yet just coming off pill for a few months maybe till end of year and seeing if the bleeding and moods etc settle down.

Progesterone only contraception doesn't agree with me and I bleed a lot it plus get mood swings etc. If they can't find anything else it's probably your pill. Why on earth are you still taking it?

Sparkles512 · 02/06/2020 22:22

I'm still taking it because I'm worried about my periods being worse off the pill....before the pill I would be bed bound in agony, being sick, passing out etc. I can't afford to take time off work if I become ill with my periods again. We also want to hold off having children whilst covid is happening so wanted to wait until next year.

UPDATE Thank you to everyone for your support. I have spoken to the doctor and they suggested taking Tranexamic acid for 4 weeks and if no improvement then they will refer me to a gynecologist. I am also having blood tests done. Fingers crossed they find a solution!
