How long does it take to put your child to bed?

Age and how long?

My 7 month old. Well, been trying for an hour now. Do feel like I spend my life trying to get him to nap and sleep.

At 7 months i didn't even put them to bed, I put them in the sling on my bed, did housework and put them down when they were asleep. Or I breastfed them to sleep.

My 4 year old was ok - until lockdown. And then (similar to another poster on here) she ended up in bed with me and I usually fell asleep before her - I think! Otherwise we'd both still be up until midnight!

Since going back to preschool - dinner, bath, stories (about 10!) and then she's out for the night. Asleep about 8.30pm. We are adamant we are continuing with the same routine when the summer hols roll round! For all our sakes!

Interesting to see the variation!

My 4 year old takes about 40 minutes if you're counting the bedtime routine too. Upstairs at 6pm, bath, teeth, story, talk about the day and plans for tomorrow, bed. She then usually plays with her soft toys/chats to herself for about 20 minutes and is asleep by 7pm.

4 month old still a bit hit and miss but I'm trying to get her to follow her big sister's routine. As a newborn it would take hours.

My 4 year old had a dummy until she was 2, and my 4 month old has one now. I honestly don't know how you get them to sleep on their own without one.
